QIM Mosque | Preston
Studio FRI had the honor of being commissioned to oversee the full renovation of a purpose-built 1970s Mosque, located in the heart of Preston. Our team was tasked with temporarily relocating the Mosque, so that a comprehensive overhaul of the entire ground floor could be completed. The scope of the project included revamping the entrance, main prayer hall, secondary prayer hall, ablution facilities, toilet facilities, plant room, ground floor offices, and constructing a stylish modern extension to the entrance area to accommodate the shoe racks.
Our team took on the challenge of renewing the outdated M&E system and replaced traditional radiators with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. We successfully blended modern crisp interior design with traditional Islamic detailing, to create a beautiful and welcoming space. As this project had a strict deadline of 4 months, our careful planning before the commencement of the works contributed to the timely completion of the project.
We were proud to reopen the Mosque the day before the start of the month of Ramadan, to a very appreciative congregation and executive committee. The renovated Mosque now offers a comfortable and modern space for worship and community events.
